Professor Kim Dong-moon of Wonkwang University was elected as the 32nd president of the Badminton Korea Association.

Professor Kim Dong-moon won the election as the new chairman of the Badminton Korea Association by winning 64 out of 154 valid votes in the election for the 32nd president of the Badminton Korea Association held at the Sunshine Hotel in Daejeon on Sunday afternoon. Kim Taek-kyu, the current president of the Badminton Korea Association, failed to serve consecutive terms with only 43 votes.

Kim Dong-moon is a Korean badminton legend who won the gold medal in mixed doubles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the bronze medal in men's doubles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the gold medal in men's doubles at the 2004 Athens Olympics. 메이저사이트

After the election, Professor Kim Dong-moon said, "During the long election period, other candidates and many supporters who helped me worked hard together," adding, "There are many tasks piled up in front of us, so we will solve them one by one through communication."

Initially, the Badminton Association presidential election was scheduled to be held on the 16th, but it was delayed by a week due to controversy over the qualification of Kim Taek-kyu, who sought re-election.

Earlier, Chairman Kim Taek-kyu was disqualified from running for office by the Badminton Korea Association's Election Management Committee, citing social controversy, embezzlement, and breach of trust caused by Ahn Se-young's revelation. In response, Chairman Kim Taek-kyu filed an application for an injunction, saying there was a procedural defect in the "prohibition of candidacy measures," and he entered the election after the court accepted it.

Chairman Kim Taek-kyu, who belatedly regained his eligibility to run for the election and lost his credibility in the badminton community, was pushed back by Professor Kim Dong-moon and failed to serve consecutive terms and was removed.

According to MBC, Chairman Kim Taek-kyu is in a position to file a lawsuit against the results and invalidate the election, citing problems in the election process.
